After application, you need to cleanup by sweeping away any leftover stain and residue with a broom after flooding the floor with water. It is always a good idea to shop vac the water so as to get the residue up and out of the pores of the concrete and make it a little easier for the stain to get into the pores. When the floor is thoroughly dry, it is a good idea to apply a sealer agent … Read More

There are many plants that thrive in bathroom environments better than they would in other areas of the home. When adding plants to your bathroom, there is some basic advice that you should follow.

Another hot appliance that’s quickly gaining in popularity is the towel warmer. Imagine stepping out of the bathtub or shower and being treated to a nice, toasty towel! Plumbing a retrofit panel usually means removing the existing shower head and replacing it with a hose or pipe that will feed water to the panel. This means that existing valves will still be used to turn the water on and adjust the temperature, but in exchange it is very easy to do. Adding a luxury bath or shower or a luxury bath … Read More

After that, I’d love to upcycle some old wood or metal to create shelving above the toilet and next to the sink. The plumbing towel racks are also definitely going in. Bathrooms would be first on my list. Adding grid tied solar power and upgrading and relocating central air upstairs would be next. If those were already done, remodel sunroom and detached garage. Old Country Life Decorating~Reuse, Redo Don’t Buy New.

Okay, so this is kind of a silly post that I actually don’t believe will generate anything, but I thought it might be fun anyway. We’re about to finish our basement and I am not a very visual person, so trying to picture what it might look like is difficult for me. I’m sure we’ll get lots of help with that from the contractor and most likely will go with one of the designs they come up with, but I thought it might be fun to see if I could tap into the wisdom of my small crowd.

Bathroom Remodel And A New Headboard

This past weekend, we did a quick remodel of our bathroom.┬áMy spouse repainted the walls, doors, and trim. He replaced the baseboard and the vanity, because water took a toll on our only bathroom, and the laminate started to come off the vanity. We have new baseboard that is a type of vinyl, but it looks like wood now that it is painted and caulked. My spouse is so handy from fixing everything around here that he works fast. The vanity and sink that we removed was donated to Stardust: Goodwill’s version of a ReStore. The sink was in great condition.

We live in one. Have been in it for almost 8 years now. It is 45 X 80 X 17. We originally planned to build a house at a later date, but have recently decided to just tear out what we have done and re-do it and are … Read More

Why You Should D.I.Y. (Do It Yourself)

Rather than trying to do the square-peg/round hole scenario trying to make another door guide of the wrong size refit the mold of the other construction configuration by drilling a new set of holes into a door guide (easily cracking the new guide) – we suggest trying to glue together your broken door guide.

This original sales flyer was included with a folder of interesting vintage camping manuals from the original owner. The specs here are close but not exact to another vintage sales flyer I’ve seen, but since this is the one in my camper, I’m going with it. The other benefit of the Compact’s light weight is that we can move it around the campground by hand if we need to using just the hitch wheel it came with. I toured an old one a year ago and fell in love with it. It has such space and … Read More

Bathroom Remodeling By H&H

To say I’m in love is an understatement. As I mentioned in my first post , this was actually completed 2 years ago, and I can say today that I walk in every morning and still love it. Maybe living in an ugly, unfinished bathroom for 3 years has that effect!

Tile is another material that you touch and feel each day. While you can find quality options for $5 per square foot, super cut-rate tiles may have slight size inconsistencies. The results will be crooked lines that make a bathroom look shoddy. I’d also bought a piece of ceiling tile back in March. I gave one square off to give to Callie and painted the other one blue to match the ruffles on the shower curtain. I turned up the corners with pliers and used glued a metal flower to the middle (to echo the flower on the window … Read More
