Basement Finishing System

Every family is different, so when looking for basement ideas make sure you pinpoint how you spend your time and then cater to those hobbies and interests. If you host parties often or are beer and wine aficionados, turning your basement into a home bar or wine cellar would be a good investment. If you’re looking for a kid-friendly hangout, become the neighborhood hot spot with a massive family and media room combo. Give the guy in your family the ultimate escape with a man cave, game room and home gym, or be practical above all else by adding extra bedrooms and another bathroom.

Make this space inviting by finishing and decorating it like any upstairs room. Choose comfortable furnishings that can be easily rearranged to accommodate a few people or a crowd. Incorporate sound systems, internet connections, and good lighting to make the space functional. Look for curtains on clearance to start. We found this beautiful curtain, originally $29.99 on clearance for $9.99.

It’s cheaper having something upholstered then buying new and the frames are usually better made. Just be sure to buy your own fabric in fabric shops when it’s on sale. That’s what I did. I bought the fabric in a fabric shop. I was waited for the fabric to go on sale. Hey! I’m in California. That first photograph looks familiar if you substitute spinning and weaving equipment. And the clear plastic boxes of roving needing to be spun. Then the balls of yarn and knitting needles for the time when I finally understand knitting instructions. When’s that? Voted up and everything else for bustin’ my gut laughing!!!

If you know what you’re up against and ask knowledgeable questions, you’ll be better prepared. And being better prepared limits the potential of being taken advantage of. Drawbacks include cost and the fact that it may be refinished only once due to the thinness of its veneer. Maintenance consists of vacuuming and damp mopping. Standing water must be mopped up immediately. Well, so far so good. We had our master suite with the exception of a master bathroom. We did have a 1/2 bathroom that is currently being upgraded to a full bath. If you really watched your dollars and borrowed tools and got stuff from freecycle or restore stores – you might be able to do it for 3k as a rock bottom cost. My handy-dandy mat cutter made it easy to use some old frames from Goodwill and a few standard, cheap frames to frame the artwork.
