Our master bathroom is finally done!! It was our most complicated DIY project to date, just because we had to move/add some plumbing. We have never attempted that before. It was extremely hard to get a before picture of the bathroom because it was 2 small tight spaces. One was a walkthrough vanity area and the other was the toilet, sink and stall shower.
And for your viewing pleasure, this is what it looked like a mere 12 weeks ago (although my hairstyle has changed at least 3 times since I actually took this picture). It is Mrs Renau, I estimated it to be around 11,000. with all the changes but I will consider giving you a call when I start this project. Courtney, your bathroom is gorgeous, gorgeous, GORGEOUS! There are a few things we have planned for the basement area. First and foremost is a bedroom/bathroom combination. This is initially designed for Abby (soon to be twelve) to have a larger space than her currently fairly small bedroom. But it will also be designed for the possibility of one or more of our aging parents to move in with us. Consequently it will need to be designed in an accessible manner, including wider doors and a walk-in shower (no tub). We’d also like it to have a walk-in closet for Abby and/or the parents. It should be large enough to fit a … Read More

Warm air rises, so it makes sense to install heating vents at floor level. Baseboard heating is a good option, but make sure it makes sense for your plan and is easy to tie into your existing HVAC system. For a finished space, you want to make sure you’re not relying on space heaters, so plan carefully. Thank you! We started the project in May and it was completed the beginning of July. Our contractor did everything.

All vanity hardware was replaced. The hinges ($12.98) are not my favorite but they will have to do – it’s a guest bathroom after all. The pulls ($20.79 for 10) on the other hand, I am loving them. I bought enough for our kitchen when we update that. More on that later. Way later! First up are the new fixtures. We replaced all the cheap, builder grade, fixtures with these beautiful. oil rubbed bronze pieces. What a difference that made. Now I want a granite sink but that’s for another post. Because this room is mainly used by my tween daughter it needed a little glam. I found this pewter framed mirror at Kirklands for $29.99! Bonus Buy! It was on sale. Then I found this little silver dish that reminded me of the beach. I don’t know why, but it did. I found it at Ross for $3.49. I also found a pair of bath rugs in a cream and pale blue stripe for $6.99 at Ross. They were on clearance. I’m a bargain hunter when it comes to home goods. I’m a bargain hunter when it comes to everything I suppose.

It’s a bad scene all around, and since moving to the house the only thing we do in there is give dog baths. Now that the downstairs office & bedroom are almost complete, we’re turning our attention to the bathroom, and demo began this week. We removed the medicine cabinet from the wall, took down the drop ceiling, and started removing the plastic shower walls.

If that’s the case, then it’s time to consider a laundry room renovation. You spend enough time doing laundry, so the room should be inviting and filled with the latest innovations!
Hi Janice – Well… that’s quite a lot of info and questions there. My advice… Moms tend to make the buying decisions when it comes to homes. And… finishing your basement can add quite a bit of value to your home. So, I would tear everything except the studs and the electrical out and refinish your basement the way you yourself would use it. After deciding to leave the tiles in place, the next step we took was to rip out … Read More
